It appears the Space Shuttle Columbia has been lost over the skies of Texas (Saturday, Feb. 1). WVU President David C. Hardesty Jr offered his condolences:

“This is a very said day for America and our NASA program. The astronauts carry the hopes and aspirations of all Americans and many around the world when they travel into space. When something tragic (likes this) happens, the hearts of all Americans go out to the families and friends of these brave men and women. WVU will fly its flags at half staff to honor these six fallen American heroes and the courageous Israeli astronaut who traveled with them.”
