West Virginia Universitys Department of Human Resources seeks proposals for its inaugural Human Resources Conference Oct. 16-17 at Morgantown’s new Radisson Hotel on the Waterfront.


Designed for those from academic and corporate institutions, the conference will focus on”The Role of Human Resources in a Strong Regional Workforce.”


Potential presenters are asked to consider the value HR confers on developing and maintaining a strong workforce and why and how HR needs to explore innovative approaches to current and emerging issues.


“The conference will deliver valuable insights and offer practical guidance for creating a strong, skilled, educated, resilient and innovative regional workforce,”said Myrtho Blanchard, WVU assistant vice president of Human Resources.”We are looking forward to having a diverse group of presenters representing a broad spectrum of topics.”

Proposal submission deadline is April 15.


Proposals may be submitted for the following panel sessions:

  • Wellness in the Workforce: Personal and professional quality of life

  • HR and the Law: Legal issues impacting the workforce of today and the future

  • Employee of Choice: Non-monetary rewards for employees and other retention strategies

  • The”Art”of Restructuring: The radical redesign of business processes for dramatic performance improvement

  • Changing the Organizational Culture: Creating an environment that provides employees the opportunity to learn and grow �€an environment that attracts, rewards and retains highly talented professionals

  • Technology and HR: Service Delivery. How has it changed?

  • Workforce Development: Importance of designing and properly implementing comprehensive training strategies

  • Human Resourcesrole in an academic institutions/corporations success: new relationships, what are they and do they exist successfully between HR departments and other units in the organization?
