A lot of parents have questions about”what is normal”and”how do I know when to be concerned?”These questions and many others will be answered on Thursday, Jan. 30, from 7-8 p.m., in 334 Allen Hall.

The session €”Walking and Talking: What Can I Expect?”€is the third program in the Sessions for Parents of Young Children series, sponsored by the Alumni Association of the College of Human Resources&Education.

“Motor development of children should not be left to chance,”says Dr. Linda Carson, associate professor in the WVU School of Physical Education.”There are certain major motor milestones that parents should look for and a number of ways to enrich the play environment to nurture emerging skills.”

Carson will address motor development at the session, and Dr. Lynn Cartwright, chairperson of the WVU Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology, will discuss speech development in pre-school children.

The session is free and open to the public. Reservations are preferred. To register or for more information, call 293-5703.
