Come in from the cold and join us in the Arctic!
“Petey the Penguin,”a fun and frosty arctic puppet show, will be presented by the West Virginia University Division of Theatre&Dance Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 25 and 26.
The matinee performances will be held in the VivianDavisMichaelTheatre in the CreativeArtsCenter, beginning at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Jan. 25 and at 1 p.m. Jan. 26.
Richard Campbell, a WVU senior studying for a bachelor of fine arts degree in creative dramatics, is the writer, director and designer of the program. It premiered at The Greenbrier in Lewisburg earlier in January.
The story is about Petey, an albino penguin, and his struggle to be accepted by the other penguins, who are all black and white. His only friend is the Snowman. The other penguins make fun of Petey until they all learn that differences are important and often useful in times of need. One of the highlights of the show is a visit by the Snow Queen, who sings to Petey.
“Petey the Penguin”is for the young and the young at heart. Tickets are $5 and seating is limited. For tickets and information, contact the Mountainlair Box Office at (304) 293-SHOW.
