To facilitate the return to service of the west air handler that serves the even room numbers for the basement and ground floors of the WVU Creative Arts Center, the building will close at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, and reopen to contractors and University employees having keys to the building on Monday, Dec. 23.
The air handler servicing the east side of those floors (odd room numbers) will undergo a similar start up at a future date yet to be determined.
The building is closed to the public Monday, Dec. 23, through Thursday, Dec. 26 €official WVU holidays.
The CAC was closed for several days in October when testing of the new air handling system and routine air sampling showed slightly higher than normal levels for asbestos. The areas were cleaned and retested and the facility opened after about a week.
The CAC was also closed over the summer months as part of a multimillion-dollar upgrade to renovate the performance areas, install new fireproofing and sprinklers, update the fire alarm system and conduct other improvements. It reopened at the beginning of the fall semester, but renovations continue.
