The 2002 poinsettia sale is under way at West VirginiaUniversitys Davis College of Agriculture, Forestry and Consumer SciencesEvansdale Greenhouse. Hours are 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday through Friday.
“We have at least eight new varieties as well as favorites from past seasons,”said Sue Myers, greenhouse manager.”The bush and tree styles are gorgeous this year.”

The Greenhouse staff is conducting a poinsettia variety trial this year as well.
“The public is invited to visit the Greenhouse on Saturday, Dec. 7, to see our display of 103 varieties of poinsettias,”Myers noted. These are varieties that were bred by the five major poinsettia breeders from around the globe: The Paul Ecke Ranch, Fischer USA , Oglevee, Dummen and Selectra-Klemm.
“There are many new and exciting varieties to look at, some that are not even on the market at this time,”Myers added.”We need customer feedback.”

WVU is conducting this trial with Marys Greenhouse, 300 Ward Ave., Elkins, W.Va. Marys Greenhouse has 115 varieties. The plants are on display there through Dec. 15 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon-5 p.m. on Sundays.
