Enjoy a candlelit walk through the grounds of a treasured West Virginia landmark, eat a delicious holiday meal, or listen to traditional stories of the season at the annual”Winter Lights at WVU Jackson’s Mill”Dec. 13-14 at the LewisCounty facility near Weston.


The festivities begin with the”Winter Lights Holiday Buffet”from 5-7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, in the Mount Vernon Dining Hall. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 4 through 12. The menu features baked steak and roast turkey with all the trimmings. Reservations must be made in advance by calling 1-800-287-8206.


The Jackson’s Mill grounds will be beautifully lit from 6-8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 13-14, with more than 1,000 luminaries and trimmed with traditional red ribbons and fresh greenery. Visitors may drive or walk through the grounds and enjoy the sights and smells of a winter holiday evening.


“An Old-Fashioned Christmas,”scheduled from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, will engage children ages 4 through 12 with traditional holiday stories and historical tales from the 1800s. A special guest will also make an appearance. Admission is free.


The Jackson’s Mill Historic Area will be open for self-guided tours. The General’s Store, the Historic Area’s unique gift shop, will be open for holiday shopping.
