The West Virginia University College of Business and Economics, West Virginia Development Office and District Export Council are holding a free workshop on exporting to Asia from 9-11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, at FCX Corp. on Chaplin Hill Road.

The workshop will help participants learn ways to enter the Asian market, overcoming what Bill Riley, director of the WVUCenter for Chinese Business, calls”export anxiety.”

West Virginia companies do not export to the extent other states do, Dr. Riley said.

“The workshop will help businesses discover that exporting is not as hard as they think,”he added.

The workshop will provide details on a West Virginia Development Office February trade mission to Asia, District Export Council spring 2003 export seminars, and a program in which business leaders can travel to China with a group of WVU business students who will develop a strategy for them to enter the Chinese market.

“The market for products in China is one of the fastest growing in the world, and our program will help businesses develop strategies to take part in this growth,”Riley said.”Participants will travel with our faculty and students to China next summer to examine, firsthand, the markets potential. Then, our students will work with them to develop recommendations for entering the market.”
