West Virginia Universitys record year will be the topic of President David C. Hardestys annual State of the Campus address Monday, Sept. 9, at 3:15 p.m. at the NationalResearchCenter for Coal and Energy (Evansdale Campus) Assembly Rooms A&B.
President Hardesty plans to highlight some of the Universitys all-time highs in research funding, freshman enrollment and fund raising.
The president also plans to discuss the challenges for the coming year, including a 10 percent budget reduction from the Universitys base budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2003, as requested by Gov. Bob Wise. He is expected to stress the importance of staying true to the Universitys mission while making the tough cost-cutting decisions, as well as requesting from all spending units ways to improve WVU s efficiency.
The president will also touch on Sept. 11 campus remembrance activities planned for Wednesday.

Faculty Senate will meet immediately following Hardestys remarks. Items on the agenda include proposed revisions to the Faculty Senate constitution.
