West Virginia University will host”Making College Count,”a free success presentation for first-year students, at 7:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5. The first session will be in the Blue/Gold Room of the Evansdale Residential Complex; the second in the Mountainlair Blue and Gold Ballrooms. The presentation will be delivered on college campuses across the nation this fall to more than 200,000 first-year students.
The program encourages students to”unleash their inner monster”by making the most of their potential during the college years to maximize their opportunities upon graduation. The program emphasizes the importance of time management, setting goals and other topics related to academic, extracurricular and career success.
The program is free, and complements the efforts of orientation staff, enrollment managers and strategic planning teams by providing students with a”road map to success”that can be used in college and after graduation. Students participate through interactive exercises and a workbook.
Organizers says 99 percent of students who attended the program indicated their peers would benefit from the presentation. The average student rated both the value and effectiveness of the presentation an 8.5 on a 10-point scale. The career resources of Monster back this programs success.
