West Virginia University Extension agents along with staff members and volunteers who work with 4-H programs are invited to attend the Northeast Regional Leaders Forum Oct. 10-13 at the Oglebay Resort and ConferenceCenter in Wheeling.

The conference will provide training for 4-H volunteers and educators around the state and region to increase their capability to accomplish the programs youth development and education goals. The event also celebrates the 100th birthday of 4-H in the United States.

The forums workshops include discussions on topics such as teen peer education, 4-H and agriculture, child development, team building, counselor training, recreational activities and 4-H project success.

The opening keynote speaker is Dr. David Huntera noted author, humorist and retired professor. WVU President David C. Hardesty Jr. will be the keynote speaker Friday, Oct. 11. During Hardestys tenure, WVU has designed a number of programs that focus on encouraging student success and excellent citizenship. Hardesty is serving on the National 4-H Councils Board of Trustees.

Forum workshops will be led by county and state Extension agents, specialists and staff members from WVU , OhioStateUniversity, RutgersUniversity, University of Rhode Island and the University of Maryland.
