West Virginia Universitys new Head Basketball Coach John Beilein will join President David C. Hardesty Jr. in greeting members of the Class of 2006 during New Student Convocation Sunday, Aug. 18.
WVU ’s annual introduction to academic life and learning for freshmen and transfer students is set for 1 p.m. at the WVU Coliseum.
Joining Hardesty and Beilein in welcoming the citys newest residents and offering them advice and tips for academic and personal success will be Vice President for Student Affairs Kenneth D. Gray, Student Government Association (SGA) President Chris Gregory, SGA Vice President Don McIntyre and Scott Rotruck, new president of the Greater Morgantown Area Chamber of Commerce.
New students also will get a chance to hear a performance by the University Choir and meet other SGA representatives, serving as ushers.
Buses to and from the residence halls and Coliseum will run throughout the afternoon, and a picnic lunch will be served at the Coliseum from 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m.

Other WVU back-to-school activities include the annual FallFest Concert on the Mountainlair Plaza beginning at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, the first day of classes. Move-in day for students begins Friday, Aug. 16.
