Four West Virginia University students are getting help for their education from the University Club, an organization for WVU faculty, staff and administrators.

“The selection process was very difficult,”said Kirsten Coit, director of the University Club,”but these students certainly deserve it.”

University Club scholarships, in amounts up to $2,000 each, are awarded annually. The 2002-2003 scholarships went to: Donna Bindernagel, Samara Rasmussen and David Simmons, all of Morgantown, and Megan Sions of Hillsboro.

Bindernagel is an incoming freshman who plans to study computer science. She also hopes that once she finishes school she can stay in West Virginia.

Rasmussen, a junior, hopes to continue her education after she completes a textiles, apparel and merchandising degree. She wants to get her masters degree in fashion design.

Simmons, a senior in the College of Business and Economics, plans to attend the WVU College of Law after earning an undergraduate degree.

Sions is a senior physical therapy student and plans to find a job in that field after she graduates. She also received a Mountaineer Scholarship.

The University Club selected the students based on academic standing, an essay and reference letters. Scholarship recipients must also be West Virginia residents and full-time WVU undergraduates.
