No lazy days of iced-tea sipping on the front porch for some loyal Mountaineers. As the temperature and humidity rises, so does the tempo of WVU alumni activity.
“Whether they are just out of school or from the Class of42, WVU alumni want to remain a part of the larger university community,”said Stephen Douglas, chief executive officer of the WVU Alumni Association.”This summer, our constituents are doing more than ever beforefrom one corner of the state to the other.”
Kevin Berry, assistant director of the alumni organization, explains:”Our upcoming events recapture the spirit of thesummer break,giving folks an opportunity to kick back with old friends in a variety of activities.”
“From golfing to jazz, from tailgating to gourmet dinners, there is something for everyone this summer,”Berry noted.

- 60th Annual WVU Alumni Association Golf Tournament, July 26, Lakeview Resort, Morgantown, WV
- With more than 130 players annually, the tournament has raised more than $110,000 for alumni programming over the past seven years. Participants will receive a buffet lunch and dinner as well as a souvenir logo sweater. Prizes will be awarded to first-, second- and third-place net and gross scorers. - Boone County Pig Roast and Golf Tournament, July 20, Riverview Country Club, Madison, WV
- More than 500 people are expected to enjoy a day of golf and delicious barbecue at this 15th annual gathering. Over the years, the event has raised $175,000 in scholarships for Boone County students attending WVU . Once again, all Boone County students at the pig roast who will be attending WVU or WVU Tech in the fall will receive a $50 book gift certificate. - Multifest, Aug. 2-4, State Capitol Grounds, Charleston, WV
- West Virginia celebrates cultural diversity as thousands take to the State Capitol grounds for a weekend of jazz, salsa, reggae, high life, rhythm-and-blues and gospel music. The WVU Steel Drum Ensemble will perform on Saturday evening and WVU representatives will be on-hand throughout the weekend with gifts for children and adults. - The Alumni Association kicks off the 2002-2003 football season in the Kanawha Valley with this annual gathering of fans. The”Pride of West Virginia”pep band will perform for hundreds of true Mountaineers. - 8th Annual Marmaduke H. Dent Society Benefit Dinner, Aug. 30, Erickson Alumni Center, Morgantown, WV
- This years four-course gourmet dinner and wine-tasting will be prepared under the supervision of Scott Cape, executive chef of the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort&Spa in Farmington, Pa.
