Shaffer&Shaffer, PLLC has pledged $25,000 to the West Virginia University Foundation, Inc. to create a law scholarship at the WVU College of Law.

The Shaffer&Shaffer Law Scholarship endowment provides scholarships for enrolled WVU law students who have demonstrated academic promise and/or have a financial need.

“The addition of law scholarships is essential in attracting outstanding students and in making a legal education more affordable,”said Dean John W. Fisher II.”The College is most grateful for the loyalty and continued support from Shaffer&Shaffer, PLLC .

The law firm, located in Madison, Boone County, with an office in Charleston, focuses primarily on insurance defense work, representing employers in litigation and administrative matters and representing various business and banking interests.

The gift was made to the WVU Foundation in conjunction with Building Greatness Campaign: West Virginia University. The campaign is a $250 million fund raising effort being conducted by the Foundation on behalf of the University and has received more than $216.4 million toward its goal. The five-year campaign concludes Dec. 31, 2003.

The WVU Foundation is a private non-profit corporation that generates and provides support for West Virginia University.
