Faculty and students in West Virginia University’s program in textiles, apparel and merchandising (TAM) played a leading role in the recent West Virginia Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (WVAFCS) Design Exposition.

Nora MacDonald, a TAM professor in the Division of Family and Consumer Sciences of WVU ’s Davis College, organized the event for the WVAFCS .

“The Design Exposition is a state-wide juried design exhibition,”MacDonald said.”The purpose of the exhibition is to provide an arena for design work to be peer reviewed and exhibited as a form of creative scholarship.”

John Jacob, an assistant professor in the TAM program, submitted a dress design to the original three-dimensional apparel designs section of the exhibition. Jan Yeager, professor and director of the Division, entered some weavings into the fiber/textile arts section.

Samara Rasmussen, a junior TAM student from Morgantown, entered illustrations of her original designs in the two-dimensional design competition. Rasmussen plans to complete an apparel design internship with Hearts of Palm in New York, N.Y. Graduating TAM senior, Lindsay Schupp, of Erie, Pa., participated in the expo as well.
