Robert N. Galardi has joined the West Virginia University Extension Service as director of development. The Pittsburgh, Pa., native has nearly 25 years of experience in fund raising and community relations.

Most recently, Galardi was director of development for the American Respiratory Alliance of Western Pennsylvania (formerly the American Lung Association). From 1997-2000, he held a similiar position with the Johnstown Area Heritage Association (JAHA). He also raised funds for the Tyler Health Foundation in Tunkhannock, Pa., and the Pennsylvania Economy League Inc. in 33 of Pennsylvanias 67 counties.

“Extension is fortunate to have someone with Bobs qualifications and experience join our team,”said Larry Cote, WVU associate provost and director of Extension.”When he was with JAHA , for example, he implemented a $7.5 million capital campaign, which included a $1 million lead gift.”

Galardi has an associates degree in accounting from the Community College of Allegheny County and a bachelors degree in economics from the University of Pittsburgh. He began his new duties May 16.
