The stage is set for West Virginia Universitys annual Weekend of Honors, which begins Friday and runs through Sunday (April 12-14).

Throughout the weekend, most colleges and schools will host open houses, tours, receptions and dinners, and exceptional students will give speeches and presentations, receive awards and be inducted into academic honoraries.

Two special ceremonies will highlight Friday activities. An Honorary Recognition Ceremony will be held at 3:30 p.m. in Woodburn Circle to acknowledge the induction of new student initiates into campus-wide honoraries, including Helvetia, Chimes and Mortar Board. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to the Mountainlair ballrooms.

At 7 p.m., a Weekend of Honors Convocation Ceremony will be held in the Mountainlair ballrooms. Outstanding faculty, staff, students and alumni will be recognized.

There also will be a 1 p.m. Ring Day Ceremony in the Erickson Alumni Centers Durrett Hall on Sunday, April 14. WVU students who have purchased the Official Class Ring are invited to attend this ceremony, during which President Hardesty will present them with their rings. Following the ceremony, President and Mrs. Hardesty will host a reception for students and their families.
