West Virginia University will recognize one administrator and seven students for their outstanding safety efforts at the 12th annual President’s Safety Reception at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, in the Erickson Alumni Center.

Several building/unit safety committees will also be honored for their safety-related activities throughout the previous year.

Lawrence Gibbs, associate vice provost of environmental health and safety at Stanford University, will be the keynote speaker.

WVU ’s Environmental Health and Safety is coordinating the program, which is open to the public.

The University established the safety reception program in 1991 to recognize groups and individuals for their commitment to promoting safety at the University and to honor those who perform actions above the call of duty.
