Acclaimed poet, novelist and essayist Marge Piercy is coming to West Virginia University Thursday, March 21, as the Pi Lambda Phi Jewish Studies Lectureship speaker.

Piercys talk,”A Woman and a Jew: Contradiction and Fulfillment,”is at 8 p.m. in the Marlyn Lugar Courtroom, WVU College of Law. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Piercy is the author of many books, including Woman on the Edge of Time; He, She, and It; The Art of Blessing the Day, and, most recently, her autobiography, Sleeping with Cats. She has published 14 books of poetry, 15 novels and a collection of essays.

In Sleeping with Cats, Piercy describes her literary career, the people who filled her life, her search for love and, in the background, the cats who have been her constant companions.

She is currently the poetry editor of Tikkun and resides in Wellfleet, Mass.

The 2002 Pi Lambda Phi Jewish Studies Lectureship is dedicated to the late Carl Selinger, a WVU law professor who died July 22, 2001. He was a founding member of the lectureship committee, now in its sixth year.
