The Chronicle of Higher Education, Americas leading source of college and university news, recently cited West Virginia Universitys commitment to increase the activity of the WVU Press.

The mention of the WVU Press comes in a Feb. 22 on-line version article titled”Greater University Presses Make Greater Presidents.”Chronicle writer Willis G. Regier lists several examples of university presidents enhancing their institutions standing by supporting publication of quality books and journals, despite the financial and administrative demands involved. WVU , Cornell, Wesleyan and Duke are among the universities Regier cites as having made positive commitments to their presses.

WVU moved to revitalize its press in 1999, increasing funding and moving it into the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences. The Press receives major support from the WVU Department of English.

The Press will publish 9-10 titles this year, primarily in the areas of West Virginia and regional scholarly and creative writing and Old English and related medieval languages and culture. The Press publishes three journals, Victorian Poetry, Labor Studies Journal and Essays in Medieval Studies. For more information on the WVU Press, visithttp://www.wvupress.com.
