As finals draw nearer and WVU seniors begin to plan for Commencement on May 19, graduates will be able to relieve some stress by taking advantage of the convenience of the”Senior Lair Fair: A One-Stop-Shop”taking place in the Mountainlair Commons Area from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, April 2-3.
Students can order caps and gowns, graduation announcements, class rings and yearbooksall in one location.
“The One-Stop-Shop makes everything convenient for seniors. Its such a busy time of the year and this is a good opportunity to get things done,”said Mary Collins of the Office of Student Affairs.”Weve tried to cover every detail that a senior would possibly need.”
Resume writing and job-hunting assistance will be provided by WVU Career Services, and students can sign on with the Alumni Association and the Athletic Department to stay connected with WVU and the Mountaineers after graduation. University Health Services will offer packets on health insurance and will give away a WVU diploma frame.
Other WVU units participating include the WVU Bookstore, Admission and Records, Student Accounts and Financial Aid.
A new feature will be an opportunity for seniors to contribute to a Senior Gift and have their name added to the 2002 Mountaineer Mark, or plaque, that will be located on a new”Walk of Seniors.”To learn more, stop by the One-Stop Shop or call 304-293-5811.
The idea to set up a One-Stop Shop came from seniors serving on a Senior Year Experience Committee. The group agreed that establishing one convenient location where they could prepare for graduation and beyond would be beneficial.
