West Virginia University will celebrate its 135th birthday at noon on Thursday, Feb. 7, in the Mountainlair commons area.

In addition to balloons, music and giveaways, WVU s Office if Institutional Advancement will hand out 500 cupcakes to passers-by. The inflatableMountaineer also will make an appearance.

WVU was founded in 1867. It is one of only 46 universities that serve their state as research and land-grant institutions.
