Several classrooms at the West Virginia University Creative Arts Center that were temporarily closed and sealed on Tuesday (Jan. 15) reopened Thursday morning, according to officials.

Air sampling done over the recent holiday break as part of a routine plumbing job indicated unacceptable levels of asbestos when test results were returned on Tuesday. Several classrooms were immediately closed, cleaned and resampled. The samples sent off for testing were returned Wednesday afternoon with negative results (no asbestos detected). CAC classrooms will reopen Thursday at 8 a.m.
