Media Advisory: WVU to hold December Convocation Friday

West Virginia University will hold its annual December Graduates Convocation Friday evening, Dec. 7, at the Creative Arts Center Concert Theatre. Nearly 500 of WVU s 1,100 December graduates, along with family and friends, are expected to take part in two separate ceremonies at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

This years convocation speaker will be WVU alumnus and Air Force Gen. Robert. H.”Doc”Foglesong. Gen. Foglesong presides over the Air Staff and serves as a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Joint Requirements Oversight Council. Based at the Pentagon, Gen. Foglesong is one of Americas top military leaders in the war against terrorism.

Prior to the convocationbetween 5:30-5:40 p.m.Gen. Foglesong will be available to take questions from the media in Room 320A of the Creative Arts Center. Media are encouraged to cover the convocation ceremonies as well.

While not a formal commencement, the December Graduates Convocation honors those students who complete their degree requirements in mid-year. Degrees are conferred during May commencement.
