West Virginia Universitys Center for Womens Studies will present a Fireside Chat titled International Perspectives on Girls and Women at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, in the Mountainlair Greenbrier Room.

“This chat is particularly timely and important,”said Barbara Howe, WVU Womens Studies director,”because it gives us the chance to see and contrast the attitudes of, and climate for, women and girls from other countries.”

Speakers and topics:

  • Christina Demian-Popoescu, a family physician from Romania. Demian-Popoescu, currently working at a placement site at the Health SciencesNational Institute of Occupational and Environmental Health.
  • Xijuan Fu, a physician from China currently working on a placement at Health SciencesFamily Medicine. She will speak about teaching general practice at the Capital University of Medical Sciences in Beijing.
  • Caridad Morales, an instructor in WVU s Intensive English Program. She will talk about her experiences as an English teacher at the Havana Business School in Cuba.
  • Maureen Nyambura Nguku, a graduate of the Institute of Advanced Technology in Nairobi, who is working in marketing and administration at the Health Sciences Technology Academy.
