West Virginia University officials on Friday placed the WVU Rugby Club on an indefinite moratorium.

The action means the club cannot meet, recruit new members or engage in any social or competitive activities as a group.

Vice President for Student Affairs Ken Gray, whose office oversees student organizations and club sports, said an investigation of the clubs activities and membership is in order based on allegations and issues recently brought to his attention.

The clubs officers and advisor have been notified of the moratorium. If the allegations are substantiated, a hearing will be held with the Committee on Student Organizations to determine the proper sanctions, which could include suspension or expulsion of the club and possible sanctions in regard to individuals.
