Ever wish you could attend class in your yellow-ducky pajamas and slippers? More students are doing just that at West Virginia University.

It isnt a new fashion statement sweeping the Morgantown campus; it is the increase in quality on-line courses. Students can access these classes from home or work with a Netscape or Internet Explorer browser.

“Weve seen an increase in demand from students around the state for more web-based courses,”said Sue Day-Perroots, dean of Extended Learning.”The anywhere-anytime model of learning is one that will continue to grow.”

WVU is offering 35 on-line courses this fall, compared to 15 last fall, she said. Virtual classroom size is about 20 students, meaning as many as 700 students may enroll this fall, up from 300 last fall.

The following on-line courses will be offered fall semester 2001:

  • Liberal ArtsBusiness/Professional Writing, British Literature II, Scientific and Technical Writing, West Virginia History, American Religious History, Introduction to Mass Communications, Introduction to Photography, Introduction to Integrated Marketing Communications, Bioconnections 1, College Algebra, Chemical Literature, Curriculum in Physical Education, Motor Development, Exploring Career Options and Finding the First Job
  • Health SciencesCommunity Health Professionals: Social&Behavior Theory, Injury Prevention/Control, Nutrition for Educators and Professional Role Transition for Nurses, Community Response HHR Prompt, Advanced Paraphysiology, Public Health Epidemiology and Use of Data.
  • Technology coursesSoftware Analysis and Design, Object Oriented Design, Statistical Methods, Advanced Project Management and Rural Telecommunications.
