West Virginia Universitys senior advisor and director of economic development Scott Rotruck will leave his post at the end of August to direct government affairs at CONSOL Energy Inc., with principal responsibility for activities in West Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio.

Scott has helped WVU make great strides in these areas. We wish him well in his new endeavors and know he will remain connected to WVU and involved in our community.”

Rotruck, 46, joined WVU in July 1999. He came to WVU from Anker Energy Corp., where he was vice president for external relations. He is a 1977 graduate of WVU and received his master’s degree in business administration from Frostburg State University.

A Morgantown resident, Rotruck has extensive civic involvement in Morgantown and West Virginia, including board positions with the West Virginia Council for Community&Economic Development, the West Virginia Jobs Investment Trust and the Greater Morgantown Chamber of Commerce.

CONSOL Energy Inc., headquartered in Pittsburgh, is the largest producer of high-Btu bituminous coal in the United States and the largest exporter of U.S. coal with 26 bituminous coal mining complexes in seven states and two Canadian provinces.
