Manalapan, N.J., native Daniel Flynn took top honors recently at West Virginia Universitys annual Greek awards banquet. Flynn, a senior economics major, earned Outstanding Man of the Year for his work as a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.
Flynn currently serves as president of WVU s Sigma Phi Epsilon chapter and will represent WVU at the centennial SigEp Grand Chapter Conclave in Washington, D.C., next week, Aug. 15-19.
During the 2000-2001 academic year, Flynn was his fraternitys social chairperson and vice president of communications and attended the Sigma Phi Epsilon Carlton Leadership Academy in Richmond, Va. He was elected to serve on the Board of Managers for the 2001-2002 school year and received the Eugene Rusty Walker Award for outstanding service to Sigma Phi Epsilon.
His community service included volunteering with Special Olympics and leading Sigma Phi Epsilons philanthropy that raised over $500 for the local fire department.
Jana Matish, a senior marketing major from Bridgeport, W.Va., was named Outstanding Woman of the Year for 2000-2001. She is a member of Chi Omega sorority.
