West Virginia University once again will showcase some of its best academic, research and public service programs at the State Fair of West Virginia Aug. 10-18 in Fairlea.

This years fair theme is”Let Your Hare Down: Its Fair Time,”and many of the displays will carry out that idea.

Nineteen colleges, schools and departments will exhibit during all or part of the nine-day event. The interactive displays invite visitors to learn how firefighters train for emergencies, understand alternative fuel vehicles, taste water samples from around the state and learn how to take classes without leaving home. Attendees can also discuss various health conditions with some of the states top experts.

The immensely popular”Who Wants to be a Mountaineer Millionaire”game will return to the fair this year. Visitors can also meet the WVU Mountaineer mascot during the events final three days. Visitors can also shop at the Mountaineer Market, which features WVU clothing and souvenirs. WVU Extension Agent John Marra will host a live broadcast at 12 p.m., 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. on WSAZ -TV Tuesday, Aug. 14. All exhibits will be located in and around the WVU Mountaineer Country Building.

Some of the WVU colleges, schools, departments and branch campuses attending this years fair include: the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources, WVU Extension Service, Institutional Advancement, School of MedicineRural Health Partnership and Health Science and Technology Academy (HSTA), National Research Center for Coal and Energy (NRCCE), Appalachian Hardwood Center, College of Business and Economics, Davis College of Agriculture and Forestry, Student Affairs, Extended Learning, West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVU Tech), Mountaineer Parents Club, Eberly College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Creative Arts.
