Come and join in a celebration centered around one of West Virginias most treasured landmarks, while enjoying beautiful music, arts, crafts, glass making, and great food atFriends Day at Jacksons Millfrom 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday, June 2.

The days activities have something for every age group including heritage craft demonstrations, musical performances, childrens activities, storytelling, folk dancing, special workshops, and tours of the historic area and buildings at Jacksons Mill. Some notable surprise guests will also visit the festivities.

Exhibits displaying the Mills early years, 4-H camping experiences, and glassware can be viewed throughout the day. Others displays such asTaste of West Virginia,plant sales, the Jacksons Mill time capsule, and an antique engine show are available for attendees. Discussions concerning important area historical figures, including Stonewall Jackson, will be held.

Participants will also have the opportunity to join theFriends of Jacksons Mill,

a group recently formed to bring together those individuals and groups who cherish and support WVU Jacksons Mill and are working to preserve its past and ensure its future.

AfterFriends Dayevents have concluded, the public is invited to the West Virginia University Extension Services Capital Campaign Kickoff. An outdoor reception is scheduled from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. The events program begins at 5:30 p.m., which includes short speeches from Extension Service Director Dr. Larry Cote and WVU President David Hardesty.
