The West Virginia University Alumni Association recently named Charleston native and WVU alumnus Kevin B. Berry as assistant director. He begins his new duties June 4.

Berry was director of the WVU Campus Information and Visitors Resource Center for the past several years, managing the”front door”to the University, including guided tours of campus.

Prior to that, he served as an assistant in the Office of the President, working as a parent advocate and helping to develop the nationally recognized Mountaineer Parents Club Helpline, a toll-free service for parents of WVU students who have questions or concerns.

In his new position, Berry will assist with the overall operation of the Alumni Association, including coordinating, planning and administering the membership dues program.

The WVU Alumni Association is set to embark on a five-year strategic plan that is focused on better serving alumni and friends of WVU . Berry said he is”very excited to be involved with the Association during this important time of renewed focus on serving all WVU constituencies.”

Berry resides in Morgantown with his wife, Katie, and their son, Andrew. He received both undergraduate and masters degrees (BS94; MA95) from WVU .

He replaces William Armistead, who recently left the Association to join the WVU Athletic Development Office.

Headed by Stephen Douglas, the WVU Alumni Association represents the institution’s largest constituency with more than 140,000 graduates worldwide.

Maintaining its historical priority of placing service to alumni at the focal point of all programming, the Alumni Association sponsors programs such as the Academy of Distinguished Alumni, Homecoming Weekend and the Emeritus Club. In addition, the Association is involved in numerous activities including student recruiting, public service, University advocacy and career networking.
