West Virginia University Board of Advisors members will hear an update on results from the recent legislative session during their meeting Friday, May 18, at Erickson Alumni Center.
The full board will meet from 12:45-2 p.m. Committees will meet from 10 a.m.-noon and hear reports on teacher education, faculty personnel issues, summer orientation and the regional campuses.
After the full board meeting, advisors will tour WVU s soon-to-be-completed Student Recreation Center.
Later in the day, BOA members will join WVU administrators, faculty and staff for a”topping-out”celebration for the Life Sciences Building, set for completion in May 2002. The event, which marks the near completion of the $43 million buildings steel frame, will be at 4:30 p.m. adjacent to the construction site behind the College of Business and Economics.
Those attending the”topping-out”will have the opportunity to sign a specially decorated steel beam before it is hoisted atop the structure. The new facility will primarily house WVU s biology and psychology departments, state-of-the-art laboratories and classrooms, a computer lab, auditorium, greenhouse and more.
The event will take place, rain or shine.
