Come join the fun as acquaintances relive old memories and make new and happy ones at the first”Friends Day at Jacksons Mill.”This special event, which is open to the public, is scheduled from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, June 2.


Attendees can enjoy live music, tours of the historic area and exhibits of photos, letters and other memorabilia recognizing the 80 years that the site has served 4-H and West Virginia University. Special workshops, heritage craft demonstrations and storytelling is also on tap.


One of the unique workshops, Love and Marriage: It All Started at Jacksons Mill , is set from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in Assembly Hall. It gives those who met, fell in love or were married at The Mill the opportunity to relive some of those memories. It will also feature photo displays, a marriage-building session and other activities.


Also that day, the WVU Extension Service will hold its Capital Campaign Kickoff from 4:30-6:30 p.m. The events program starts at 5:30 p.m. and includes remarks by Dr. Larry Cote, associate provost for Extension and Public Service; David Hardesty, WVU president; Duke Perry, president& CEO of the WVU Foundation; and a performance by the 4-H Choir.
