What do a family in Pittsburgh, two women in Charlottesville, Va., and a retired couple in Florida have in common?

Theyre all planning visits to Morgantown to see the Virginia bluebells and other spring wildflowers at the Core Arboretum this month. These”spring ephemerals”have a brief, but glorious, blooming season.

The West Virginia University Department of Biology invites you to attend one of the guided wildflower walks, which begin at 2 p.m. Sundays, April 15, 22 and 29.

Groups assemble near the Arboretum parking lot, then take about two hours to cover just over a mile. Guides Jon Weems and Dr. Donna Ford-Werntz will make many stops to discuss the wildflowers present.

No reservations are necessary. Some trail sections are steep, so wear good walking shoes.
