WVU cancels afternoon classes

February 22nd, 2001

For safety reasons, classes at West Virginia University have been canceled for Thursday, Feb. 22, beginning at 11:30 a.m. and extending through the evening, Vice President Scott Kelley just announced.

The fast-moving storm has caused the roadways to freeze and has led to numerous accidents around the area, Kelley noted.

Although afternoon classes are being canceled, the University is not closed, he added.

For the safety of all personnel, Kelley encourages employees to remain at work until the roads are in a better condition for travel.

Extracurricular events planned for the evening are still on, unless otherwise announced.
