The WVU School of Journalism Alumni Association will bring back the 1970s during its annual banquet at Erickson Alumni Center Saturday, March 31. A social hour from 6-7 p.m. will precede a buffet-style dinner.

In addition to celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Class of 1976, the SOJ Alumni Association will honor all graduates of the memorable 70s. All journalism alumni are encouraged to attend.

One 1976 alum receiving a special award is Linda Arnold, CEO and founder of The Arnold Agency, a full-service advertising, public relations and government relations firm in Charleston. She will receive the Perley Isaac Reed Achievement Award established to honor the school’s founder.

In addition, Bluefield native John Shott, chairman emeritus of Janpack, will receive the Paul A. Atkins Friend of the School Award for his long-time support. Atkins is professor emeritus of the School of Journalism.

“Linda’s contributions to the communications industry have been outstanding,”said Dean Christine Martin.”And John Shott has been a tremendous and much valued supporter of the School. We are so pleased that the Alumni Association has chosen to honor them.”
