Award-winning investigative reporter Linn Washington will speak on”The”Investigative Journalist’s Role in Uncovering Injustice,”Monday, Jan. 22, at 7 p.m. in the West Virginia University Mountainlair Blue Ballroom. The public is invited to attend.
Washington, a graduate of Temple University and Yale Law School, has reported extensively on police brutality, including the well-known story of death-row inmate Mumia Abu-Jamal. Washington will discuss the role investigative reporting has played in the movement to obtain a new trial for Mumia Abu-Jamal, who supporters say was falsely accused of killing a police officer.
He also teaches journalism at Temple University and is the author of Black Judges on Justice (New Press -1995). In addition to writing Race Matters , a column for the Philadelphia Tribune , Washington reports for three national news organizations.
