West Virginia University once again will offer students a”one-stop shop”for paying tuition and checking on financial aid.


Student Services Days get under way in the Mountainlair Ballrooms Friday, Jan. 5, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and continues Monday, Jan. 8, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Representatives from Admissions and Records, the Office of Student Accounts, Housing and Residence Life, the Scholars Office and Graduate Tuition Waivers will be on hand to answer questions and process payments and paperwork.


A Help Center will be open in the lobby of E. Moore Hall on Saturday, Jan. 6, from noon until 2 p.m. Help Center staffers can provide copies of student schedules and answer general questions.


As in previous semesters, students can expect to receive their financial aid refund checks by mail during the first week of classes, provided that they have registered and submitted paperwork on time.Students should make sure their local address is updated with Admissions and Records to ensure prompt delivery of refund checks. To update address information, call Admissions and Records at 293-2124 or 800-344-9881.Questions about refund checks should be directed to the Office of Student Accounts at 293-4006.


To avoid late fees, students need to pay their tuition and fees by Friday, Jan. 5. Students can also use the automated STAR System (293-2892 or 888-WVU-4IVR) to pay their tuition and fees with a Visa, Mastercard or Discover card. Students must pay 60 percent of their tuition and fees bill by Friday, Jan. 5, to avoid being assessed a late fee. The remaining 40 percent is due Friday, Feb. 16. Until Friday, Jan. 5, students can still use the STAR System by calling 293-2892 or 888-WVU-4IVR to register by phone.


Any returning student registering on Monday, Jan. 8, the first day of classes, needs to see their advisor and then go to the Admissions and Records Office. The STAR System will not work for students registering late for classes. Late registration for both new and returning students ends Friday, Jan. 12.


Students may also use the STAR interactive voice response system to check their fall semester grades by calling either 293-2892 or 888-WVU-4IVR and selecting option 4 and entering their student ID number and PIN .


New student orientation begins tomorrow, Jan. 3, and will continue through Thursday, Jan. 4. Transfer student orientation will be Thursday, Jan. 4. For more information on all orientation sessions, contact New Student Orientation at 293-6871.
