The West Virginia University Alumni Association will honor two outstanding women and University graduates during Homecoming Weekend Nov. 3-4.
U.S. District Judge Irene M. Keeley and former All-American gymnast turned pole-vaulter Kristin Quackenbush will ride in the Homecoming Parade and be honored at halftime of Saturdays (Nov. 4) WVU -Syracuse game at Mountaineer Field.
Judge Keeley of Clarksburg is this years Outstanding Alumna. A lifetime supporter of WVU , she serves as the associations national membership chair. She is past chair of the WVU Board of Advisors and has served on the law schools visiting committee. Active in her community, she also headed the Harrison County United Way campaign.
She received her masters degree from WVUs College of Human Resources and Education in 1977 and her J.D. from the College of Law in 1980.
Before assuming the judgeship, Keeley practiced law with the firm of Steptoe&Johnson and also taught school.
She resides in Clarksburg with her husband, John Paul Keeley III , and their three daughters, Irene Patricia, Mary Katherine and Ann Meaghan.
Former two-sport All-American Kristin Quackenbush from Whitesboro, N.Y., is this years homecoming parade marshal. A WVU All-American gymnast and AAI Award winner as the national gymnast of the year in 1997, Quackenbush was also an All-American pole-vaulter for the Mountaineers in 1998. She most recently competed in the womens pole vault at the 2000 Summer Olympic trials in Sacramento, Calif.
