West Virginia University students from Harrison County who are members of the WVU Mountaineer Marching Band, known as”The Pride of West Virginia,”will return home with the band for a free outdoor exhibition show at Bridgeport High School beginning at 12:45 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13.
The WVU Band will take the field to stage its traditional pre_game show of various musical selections, including songs such as”Fight Mountaineers,”“Hail West Virginia,”“Simple Gifts,”“Take Me Home, Country Roads”and crowd_pleasing formations.
“The Pride of West Virginia”was awarded the 1997 Sudlar trophy for being the nation’s best college marching band.
Students from Harrison County who perform in this years 350-member unit include: Joseph Archer; Scott Arnold; Jamey Biesczad; Heidi Caloccia; James (J.G.) Cutlip; Marlana Matheny; Mary Virginia Paletta; Ed Riffle; Renee Riffle; Cori Smith; James Spadafore; Christina Wilfong; and Brianne Willard.
The group will be returning to Morgantown from a performance at the Virginia Tech game Thursday in Blacksburg. They also will perform earlier Thursday in Greenbrier County.
