At 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, the City of Morgantown will dedicate a plaque at Hart Field in memory of fallen WVU pilot Charles Whiston Jr.
Good friend and WVU basketball coach Gale Catlett with be master of ceremonies, and city officials along with WVU President David C. Hardesty and Athletic Director Ed Pastilong will speak.
Whiston and co-pilot Leo Harrah were killed Feb. 16, 1998, when the twin-engine Beech C-90 King Air they were piloting crashed on a flight from Morgantown to Charleston.The accident happened about 20 miles from Yeager Airport in Roane County.
The service will be held at Morgantown’s Hart Field. The University community is invited.
