West Virginia Universitys annual United Way campaign kicks into high gear Thursday (Sept. 14) with a noon luncheon at Erickson Alumni Center.

WVU Campaign Chair Gerald Lang, provost and vice president for Academic Affairs, will announce the campaign goal and details of the effort. Last years goal was $190,000, but employees exceeded that amountraising over $200,000.

Besides Lang, speakers at the event will include WVU President David C. Hardesty Jr., West Virginia Secretary for Administration Jack Buckalew and Monongalia County Campaign Chair Kathy Martin.

Over one hundred WVU departmental volunteers are expected to attend the event and pick up forms and other United Way information.

Close to 30 local social service agencies benefit from United Way donations. WVU is Monongalia Countys largest United Way contributor. Many employees and students also donate their time to the work of the various agencies.
