Morgantown native Rob Acciavatti led West Virginia Universitys cycling club to an eighth place showing in Division 1 at Collegiate Nationals in Athens, Ohio, May 12-14.

Acciavatti claimed first place in the criterium and finished second in the road race. The WVU team placed fifth in the time trials, the third element of the competition.

Other members of the WVU team competing at the national tournament were Steve Gergely and Jennifer Shogren, both of Morgantown, and Scott Zwizanski, of Spring City, Pa.

“I’m very proud of the whole WVU Cycling Club, and of the racing teams in particular. They show how important cycling is becoming at WVU and in Morgantown,”said Greg Good, WVU history professor and cycling club advisor.”Everyone who cycles in the area should share in the success of Rob, Steve, Jennifer and Scott.”
