Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer Carol Guzy of The Washington Post will present”Bearing Witness,”a slide presentation of her work, at 7 p.m.
Thursday, April 13, in Room 205 Martin Hall another WVU Journalism Week 2000 event.
Honored with the Pulitzer Prize twice for Spot News photography, Guzy is a member of the National Press Photographers Association and the White House News Photographers Association.
A Bethlehem, Pa. native, she also worked at The Miami Herald as a staff photographer. In 1988, she moved to The Post, where she covers both domestic and international stories.
Guzy’s program is funded by The Gruine Robinson Lecture Series. Robinson, a 1948 graduate of the P.I. Reed School of Journalism, was the first woman Associated Press reporter and editor in West Virginia. She was director of the Office of Information and Technical Publications of the U.S. Public Health Service in Washington, D.C. until her retirement.
Robinson endowed the lecture series to inspire journalism students to face the dynamic and dramatic challenges of the 21st century.
The free public event will also be attended by high school competitors participating in the Schools annual statewide High School Journalism Competition, slated for Thursday and
Friday, concluding J Week activities.
