Patrick Gallagher, president and chief operations officer for Charles Ryan Associates in Charleston, W.Va., will present”PRThe Rest of the Story”at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, in Room 458 of the Business and Economics Building.

Gallagher, a 1972 graduate of the Perley Isaac Reed School of Journalism, will return to his alma mater to talk to students and others about his career in public relations management.

The former head of the West Virginia Manufacturers Association has managed public relations, community relations and government relations in both the public and private sectors. He counsels senior corporate executives throughout the country in crisis communication, litigation communication, labor disputes and mergers and acquisitions and takeovers.

During the past five years, Gallagher has worked in more than 30 states for numerous Fortune 500 companies on issues including class action lawsuit consumer litigation, environmental incidents and labor issues.

He served as director of Community Development during West Virginia Gov. John D. Rockefeller IV’s administration, where Gallagher directed six program divisions and managed more than $100 million in state and federal grant funds. He was appointed by Gov. Rockefeller as his alternate to the Appalachian Regional Commission and as executive director of the Governor’s Committee on Crime, Delinquency and Corrections.

Gallagher is a former government affairs manager for ACF Industries, Inc.; executive assistant to the W.Va. Senate President; and reporter/anchor for WCHS _TV in Charleston, W.Va.

The Perley Isaac Reed School of Journalism is hosting the event funded by the Pete Sasser Lecture in Journalism of The Clark Family Lecture Series.Thomas S. Clark, M.D., and Jean C. Clark established the lecture in honor of the School’s late dean.
