Census workers will be at various West Virginia University campus locations throughout the next few weeks answering questions and registering students for giveaways, including a $1,000 prize.

Official”Be Counted”centers will be set up in the Mountainlair, the Health Sciences Center and the College of Law to facilitate the information gathering process, said Andy Cogar, a member of the Morgantown Complete Count Committee.

“All Be Counted centers will be staffed by an official Census 2000 worker,”Cogar said.”They will be prepared to answer any questions about the census and the form.”

Short census forms will be available to complete for anyone who has either lost or did not receive a form, he said.

“Off-campus students can still register for the WVU Census 2000 Drawing at the Be Counted centers too,”Cogar said.”Registration is completed automatically by turning in a finished form and by presenting a valid student identification.”

In addition to the $1,000 award donated by Morgantown and the Morgantown Area Partnership, other prizes to be given away include a Microsoft Office 2000 Software Suite, $100 savings bond, JanSport Backpack, clothes, meals, groceries and gift certificates.

Residence halls, fraternities and sororities will receive forms this week.
