The West Virginia University Alumni Association has announced Gloria Salucci Cunningham of Morgantown, W.Va., as the recipient of this years David W. Jacobs Award.
Presented annually by the WVU Alumni Association, the David W. Jacobs Award recognizes a member who has shown support and lifelong service to the organization.
Cunningham, Class of 43 (BS) and 63 (MS), is a retired faculty member of the College of Human Resources and Education. While there, she was a founding member of the schools alumni association and recently served as honorary chairman of the development campaign for the college.
She has also been selected as a member to Kappa Delta Pi and Phi Delta Kappa, national education honoraries, and to Delta Kappa Gamma, an international teachers honorary where she served two terms as president of her local chapter.
Cunningham is also a charter member of the National Alumni Recruiting Network which works through the WVU Alumni Association and the WVU Office of Admissions and Records to recruit students and to facilitate their entrance into WVU . She has also been named to serve as a member of the Career Service Academy.
Currently, she is a member of the Emeritus Club, where she is past president, and is also a volunteer for several Morgantown agencies.
Cunningham, a life member of the WVU Alumni Association, will be the fifth recipient of this award. Past award winners include: 99, Howard G.”Abe”Martin; 98, John F. Nicholas, Jr.; 97, Mickey Furfari; 96, Harry F. Bell, Sr.
The West Virginia University Alumni Association Awards will be presented during the Weekend of Honors Convocation Ceremony at 7:30 p.m. April 14th in the Mountainlair ballrooms.
