The West Virginia University Alumni Association has announced A. Scott Pack, Jr., of West Chester, Pa., as the recipient of this years Margaret Buchanan Cole Young Alumni Award.

Presented annually by the WVU Alumni Association, the Margaret Buchanan Cole Young Alumni Award recognizes a graduate of WVU 40 years old or younger, who has provided outstanding service to the Alumni Association, or a local chapter.

Pack, 82 (BSME), is currently the president of the Liberty Bell Chapter of the WVU Alumni Association centered in Philadelphia, Pa. He has led the chapter to new membership growth and has doubled efforts in recruiting prospective students to WVU from the Philadelphia area.

Pack comes from a family that exudes true Mountaineer pride. His father, three brothers, their spouses, as well as his wife Sheila, are all graduates of WVU . While his mother, Mrs. Glenna Pack attended Queens College in Charlotte, NC., she has also become a big supporter of WVU .

Pack and his family have shared an association with the coal industry. Currently, Pack is the district sales manager for CONSOL , Inc., in the Philadelphia Sales Office in Paoli, Pa. Previously, he was employed as assistant sales manager for CONSOL , Inc., in the Chicago Sales Office located in Chicago, Ill.

Pack is involved in community activities in the Philadelphia area. In addition to his Liberty Bell Chapter work, he serves as president of the Coal Club of Philadelphia; is first vice president of the Mineral Resources Alumni Chapter at WVU ; and a member of the Paoli Presbyterian Church.

Past award winners include: 99, Samuel Sutton; 98, Michael Rackley; 97, Natalie Tennant; 96, Kathleen J. DuBois. The West Virginia University Alumni Association Awards will be presented during the Weekend of Honors Convocation Ceremony at 7:30 p.m. April 14th in the Mountainlair ballrooms.
